GOD Must Have Needed One More Donkey In Heaven – Goodbye Sweet Galopin

While recovering from a life threatening car accident in 2010 I started teaching for free via Skype how to tame and train a donkey. I started my blog Donkey Whisperer Farm ® in 2010 and the business in 2013, testimoinals.   Martin and Geoff Lyon living in France were one of my first virtual students to teach for free.  Galopin needed to be gelded, I shared how Rio our mammoth donkey almost bled to death from the vet not tying the testicles off he was rushed to a trauma hospital and they saved his life. I shared how important it is the vet has experience in drugs and donkeys, weight etc.

Galopin did not wake up after being sedated. The cause of death is guessed to be too much drugs for his weight or a severe drug interaction as donkeys digest drugs differently than horses. The only way we the owners can know for sure the cause of death is by paying for a necropsy. Galopin touched my heart deeply I am very sad to report he died during the gelding process a few weeks ago.  I have not been able to write about this as well my emotions were bouncing all over the place.  I have spent many hours in prayer for the owners of Galopin as they loved him so very much, they did everything they could do to give this beautiful young donkey a great life.  Death comes to all of us and only GOD knows the date and time.  GOD must have decided he needed one more standard donkey in heaven as Galopin died from the gelding process.  Please pray for Galopins human family, pray for peace and joy to come back into their home.

Warning for gelding donkeys:

Donkeys can have reactions to medications, donkeys can bleed to death after being gelded if the vet does not tie off the the testicles. Donkeys are not horses with long ears.  Sadly, when veterinarians attend school they are seldom taught about donkeys.

When I am pressed on every side by troubles, I am not crushed and broken.  When I am perplexed because I don’t know why things happen as they do I don’t give up and quit. 2 CORINTHIANS 4:8 (TLB)

GOD bless you and your family two and four-legged!

    • I am not a vet or a vet assistant just sharing what I have learned and helping people make informative decisions in the health and care of the donkey and or mule. Donkeys and mules need to be tied off when gelding or they can bleed to death. Sedation with donkeys and mules is tricky, sweating, sneezing etc., and just not the same amount of health information is available as the horse has. We must remember the horse brings in money in horse racing, cutting, etc., not alot of money in donkeys. Thus sharing information will help a donkey or mule down the road. Just like people can die during an operation so can animals.

  1. I am so sorry to hear this but was thrilled when you spoke so openly of our Lord. I once lost a pet and was deeply upset over it. A great prayer warrior woman I had known for years called and said she was led to call as the Lord told her I need comforting over something. I had not told anyone of my pets passing away. When I told her, she said, “Don’t be sad, you know that animals go to heaven don’t you?”
Well I admit I’ve heard folks say that but was always assuming it was similar to the phrase, “I’ll pray for you.” Nice words but soon forgotten.
But she wouldn’t let it go. She went through verse after verse regarding this. She was fluent in Hebrew and went back to the original language to give a clearer meaning to phrases regarding the soul, spirit, Breath of life etc. When she had finished, I then had to admit, just like Billy Graham, St. Frances, Calvin, Edwards, Luther and many Popes, that yes, animals do go to heaven. Some years later my mom, a true believer, was on her death bed when suddenly she began describing the unusual and beautiful trees she was seeing, the people all dressed in white smiling at her and suddenly she lit up and shouted, “Boo Kitty! What are you doing here?” She then began petting her invisible kitty that died years earlier. She passed away holding her Kitty against her chest.

    • Thank you – Galopin was not our donkey but a donkey living in France a donkey I had coached the owner to study Parelli. The donkey was very special and beautiful.
