Apple Season has arrived! As great as they may be for humans this is not great for the domesticated Donkey, Mule or Horse. In fact this may cause DEATH from Colic and/or a huge amount of stress, tears, vet cost or even burying the beloved equine (Donkey, horse or mule).
Never feed grass clippings or bread to your horse, donkey or mule. PLEASE NEVER FEED ANOTHER ANY ANIMAL THAT IS NOT YOUR ANIMAL. Some animals have a form of insulin resistance, most must have a slow change of diet or they can founder, hoof rots out abscess or colic or worse die.
Donkeys, Horses and Mules get Sick, belly aches and gas from eating too many apples! Eating too much human food can increase their risk for colic.
This is one of the most important posts I can write. I will do my best to write it in a way to educate and not offend people as the equine (donkey, horse or mule) need us humans to learn. In fact their lives depend on it!
When you drive by a farm please do not make your hot rod scare the equine as they can and do run through a fence in fear. Not to mention the vet bill for falling down and possibly breaking a leg. Please do not throw bread, apples, pears, watermelon, grass clippings, beer bottles or garbage over the fence at the farm animals.
Horses, donkeys and mules will die of colic if not treated quickly! Bread will get wrapped in their intestine and they can die.
Please never stop and feed any equine (animal) anything without the permission of the owner.
Throwing apples or any food over the fence of an equestrian farm can cause death or a huge vet bill for the owners not to mention emotional stress, tears.
We have video surveillance on the Donkey Whisperer Farm and signs stating DO NOT FEED THE HORSES AND DONKEYS and still I have to tell people not to feed my equine. This is a huge problem and one I think most people who do not own equine just do not understand. You think you are sharing love, in fact you could kill the sweet Donkey, Horse or Mule living near you.
Thank you for sharing and caring. Melody & Scott Johnson Donkey Whisperer Farm

Select Donkey Milk to read more on the greed of this new business. Enough is enough no more abuse and greed! Please re-blog this post and help stop the abuse of more donkeys. I have read it takes fifteen donkeys to make one gallon of milk.
Donkeys forced to produce milk will have baby donkeys, these babies will be sold for very little or die. These donkeys will not get to feed from their mother as the milk is needed for greed. Sadly, many baby donkeys are killed at birth for the donkey milk.
Donkey Milk is more pain and suffering for donkeys! Enough is enough for the donkey. Please do not purchase any donkey milk products or support businesses that advocate the sale of donkey milk.
Please do not support this greed!
Donkeys have been a beast of burden for far too long. Forced to be dragged by A.T.V.’s in the U.SA. for being stubborn and not moving their feet when scared of their human. Ears cut off for not doing what the owner says and yes much worse things I can’t type here. Please do not let this new business cause more pain and suffering to the most precious and humble creature God created the Donkey.
Donkeys are considered to be worthless in most of the world and it is a horrific myth as donkeys can do everything the horse can do if of full age and tall enough. Donkey can live in domestication thirty to fifty years. Please care and share this blog post.
GOD bless you and your family two and four-legged!
God is amazing, prayer is a wonderful gift from GOD to his children. If you feel stressed, take a moment and breathe. Pray and ask GOD to give you peace, as GOD is in 100% control of all things.
GOD bless you and your family two and four-legged!
It has come to Turning Pointe Donkey Rescue’s attention that there are 18 donkeys in a kill pen in Texas that only have a few hours to be saved, or they will be going to slaughter. I’m not posting pictures as I know it can be disturbing to many. In a group effort, rescues, quarantine operators and transporters are trying to get these donkeys safe and vetted. They will be quarantined and rehomed locally in Texas. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to save their lives.
Please make donations via PayPal on our website Select TURNINGPOINT DONKEY RESCUETime is of the essence.
The immediate need is $225 each to get them safe. Then less immediate but just as important funds for vetting, farrier, and feeding. Please join the team and donate if you can and/or at least share and ask friends and family to help. Thank you so much.
Hubby and I woke up to a cool brisk dry 29 degree’s on the farm this morning. Oh what a beautiful day it is as finally the rain has stopped and the sunshine is back in sunny Sequim, WA. As we took our new puppy for a morning run GOD granted us with a real treat, we had a visit from the “Trumpeter Swans” flying over the farm they fly to the West in the morning and East at night no doubt to roost. Jesus Christ gave us this blessing just in time to capture the photos below.
We are forever grateful to get to live here on our twenty acre farm and look forward to building our home. For now living in the 5th wheel is home sweet home. Many blessings come with the 5th wheel, tiny living, less housework. More time to play, still we look forward to the new year. Select Trumpeter Swans, Dungeness for more details.

Hubby and I have been working on our farm since August of 2013. Another year has quickly disappeared, so many great and sad things have come and gone. We are most grateful to GOD for keeping us healthy; emotionally, physically and mentally. We are fifty-five now and this is one of our final bucket list destinations. Living our life simpler with less stress. 2016 we will celebrate our twenty-third year as a couple. Wow!
Great things:
Arena completed.
Hay cut and donated to starving horses as we will grow low sugar/protein hay (sell).
Enjoyed the Olympic Mountains over and over again.
Fences completed, stained.
I created an amazing food garden out of hanging baskets. After the house is completed I will have raised beds.
Living in the 5th wheel has been a challenge in the winter seasons but extremely easy in the spring, summer and fall as we have full sun on our farm, Sequim, WA.
Less rain has helped my body, arthritis and pain will be with me the rest of my life from the Semi-truck accident. Screws in my pelvis cause severe pain and arthritis.
Jewel our twelve year old middle dog had a very dangerous tumor (cancer) on her hip and tummy. Surgery was successful and she is healing she is one strong dog. Thank you Jesus!
We have a new puppy!
I created my own hand-made Donkey Whisperer Farm, LLC Rope Halter/matching lead line with a brass snap and leather end. Sales are outstanding!!!! Thank you for supporting my small business.
Painful things:
Our dog Sampson died right before Thanksgiving as he had cancer.
Naturally we did the best thing;
We had our vet send him to heaven no more pain, I cried for three weeks and still call the new puppy his name. I will always love you Sampson! Sampson was our rescue Great Pyrenees/Akita. We had no idea he was sick until one week before he let us know with extreme screaming pain.
I thought I had a publisher for my donkey educational book, turned out to be a scam. Still praying for a publisher.
My hubby Scott and I are grateful to GOD to give us this farm, let us own the Donkey Whisperer Farm, LLC and keep our marriage strong in the middle of some serious test and trials. We are best friends. If you get the opportunity to marry, marry your best friend. Love and friendship must go hand-and-hand as marriage is hard work.
Living in a small space is not easy but it can be done. We are a testimonial to this.
