Donkeys evolved from the desert. The donkey’s fur protects donkeys from insects making the donkey bleed, sunburn and regulates body temperature. The only time we should clip a donkey’s fur is if the veterinarian ordered it due to a serious health issue. Living in the Pacific Northwest our donkeys are shed out by the end of July and they start growing their beautiful fur coats by the end of August in preparation for our winters.
