Signs Of A Female Donkey (Heat)

its a donkey thing

Jennies (female Donkeys) display signs of estrus or heat cycle with an open and shut mouth, spit, known as mouth clapping, and increased braying. She will allow other jennies to mount her or will mount other jennies. This behavior is also seen in cows (female heifers). Excessive urinating and blinking with the tail raising.

When a jenny donkey is in heat or estrus, she may exhibit the following signs:

What age is my jenny ready to become pregnant safely?

Miniature donkeys age three. Standard and Burro are age four, while mammoth donkeys are age six.

Safety tips:

Jacks (intact donkeys) will breed their mothers, daughters, and sisters. Jacks can and do kill baby donkeys. It is best to keep the females with the females and the geldings with the geldings. Inner breeding causes deformities, immune health deficiencies, and, in some cases, a stillborn birth.

Thank you for investing in your donkey,
