Owning a farm is truly a wonderful gift from God. Keeping the farm healthy takes a bit of upfront planning and work and then, yes, day-to-day maintenance. Several times a day, the manure, bedding, and urine are removed and placed in the compost. The compost keeps growing and growing and growing.
A 1,000-pound horse will defecate approximately four to thirteen times daily and produce approximately nine tons of manure annually. On average, the 1,000-pound horse will deliver 37 pounds of feces and 2.4 gallons of urine daily, which totals about 50 pounds of raw waste per day in feces and urine combined. My hubby Scott and I had been looking for a used manure spreader for seven years. Finally, we found one in excellent condition in the spring of 2021. Farm equipment holds its value way past the rusting and breakdowns, and it’s seriously crazy how much-used farm equipment costs. Most manure spreaders are only used a few times a year. Why? We cant spread the poop on the field until it has become composted to eliminate parasites or, in some cases, burn the crop. We add all our manure compost to our hayfield, and there is no waste. Everything goes back into the farm production.
